ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST DESIGN SHOW 2016
MARCH 17-20th 2016, Pier 94, NYC
~21~ Industry Awards for Design Excellence in Lighting, Product Design & Interior Design, Pavarini Design is a boutique architectural interior design firm based in Manhattan and Paradise Valley, AZ. Started over 30 years ago by the renowned Kips Bay Designer Charles Pavarini III, this residential and commercial design firm is introducing 3 new collections. They include the Trapezoid Collection of stone & acrylic furniture through Biasi Catani, the Edifice Lighting Collection inspired by the iconic NYC buildings built by the eponymous Pavarini Construction Company headed by Charles Pavarini, Sr., and a new LED sconce prototype that is under development with Visual Comfort & Co. In addition, Paul Thomas paintings have inspired custom textile designs and the development of a custom lounge chair designed to best showcase Paul Thomas’ black and white paintings in upholstery.
The collaboration with the artist Paul Thomas, Marriage of Art and Design, is the third public exhibition and the first to feature a joint venture into product prototyping. Beginning at the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, the collaboration began with a painting Mr. Thomas donated to the room that inspired Pavarini’s Chromatherapy bedroom design which was designed to heal through color and light. That lead to a collaboration at the 2015 Kips Bay Decorator Show House between Pavarini and Thomas in the Midnight Manhattan Lounge where Pavarini inspired Thomas to create a quadriptych in keeping with his color palette and vision for a showcase defining Pavarini’s Metropolitan high-rise luxury look: a study in asymmetry. Thomas’ brilliant use of color in abstraction lends itself beautifully to Pavarini’s concept-driven interiors thus resulting in nothing less than Marriage of Art and Design.
Marriage of Art and Design is an iconic exhibition at AD Show 2016 of Paul Thomas works in multiple residential room vignettes which suggest ideal interior environments for the works. Featuring floating wall panels and varying visualization techniques, the exhibit demonstrates the synergy of talents and potential for harmonious living spaces incorporating Paul Thomas paintings. As a tribute to the collaboration, the textiles and upholstery suggest a convergence of ideas resulting in a dazzling textile showcase which evidences the combined talents.
Pavarini’s exhibition of Thomas’ work suggests residential applications that feature numerous paintings of varying size and significance. The works will help guide the viewer to perceive Thomas’ artistic mastery in residential settings as a marketing tool for the works: to showcase how they integrate into different interiors. Furthermore, the vignettes highlight Pavarini’s latest residential product endeavors which have reached market.
This collaboration of Art and Design will leave a lasting impression with its original approach to integration of art and design and provide a visually educating display of artistry destined for high entertainment value and spectacle.
Art and furnishings in the booth will be available for sale through ACA Gallery (artwork by Paul Thomas), Biasi Catani (Pavarini Trapezoid Furniture), & Pavarini Design.
