Summer Theatre of New Canaan

SPEARHEADED BY CHARLES PAVARINI III, Trustees and Patrons of the Summer Theater of New Canaan Create a Table-Top Show at Le Beau Chateau, New Canaan, CT

May 12-16 Located in an Historic Mansion on a 52-acre estate in Fairfield County Trustees and Supporters have united to create the 1st Annual Designer Table-Top show to benefit The Summer Theatre of New Canaan (STONC). Spring Awakening featured table-top designs by notable Interior Designers inspired by Broadway shows. The show runs Thursday though Sunday May 13-16th, with a press preview on Wednesday May 12 from 3-6:00pm and an Opening Night Gala from 6:30-9:30pm. Corporate sponsors are welcome to host additional events Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.

Event Chairman, Charles Pavarini III, set the example with a magnificent table-scape designed to represent A Little Night Music.  His powerful setting complete with floating architectural columns and arches typified that exuberant feast in the country that was such an iconic part of the musical featuring Angela Lansbury and Catherine Zeta-Jones.  Heavily decorated with wisteria, statue and only the finest from Bernardaud and Michael C. Fina, the vignette was truly captivating.

An actor and performer himself, Charles spearheaded this venue to merge the Theatrical Arts with Interior Design to create an entertaining and enjoyable community event for the patrons of the arts in Fairfield County. Designs inspired by shows such as A Secret Garden, Jeckyll and Hyde, Peter Pan, Phantom of the Opera and Once Upon a Mattress exuberantly portrayed the sentiment of these Broadway shows through the eyes of designers.

As a trustee and avid supporter of STONC, Charles envisioned this event to merge his two passions, the Theatre and Interior Design, into one entertaining and educational event that will benefit a charity which is dedicated to providing a venue for emerging talent. “As a performer myself, I can appreciate the need in our society for young talent to have the opportunity to learn and grow. STONC, with its superior leadership by Artistic Director Melody Meitrott Libonati, has become a very exciting professional summer theater group in Fairfield County, winning accolades from critics, audiences and supporters. Their shows considered exceptional, fresh and imaginative are often compared to Broadway and maintain an extremely high caliber of regional and national talent to provide a unique summer entertainment experience for the people of Fairfield County. What better an idea to welcome the public into a marvelous vintage Chateau, never before seen by the public, to be mesmerized by an inspired group of Designers. I want to show this town how important the different creative arts are to each other within the community, and how they all share a similar audience”. -Charles Pavarini III

Corporate Sponsor Christie’s Great Estates, and particularly Barbara Cleary, are to be commended for their great teamwork in providing this treasured home for the event. Their support of this most important charity has set a great example in the community and shown how a company with such phenomenal exposure and attributes can bring light to the community and its talent within.
